We are fortunate to carry on the traditions of the Green Spring Valley Hounds. Since 1892, our pack of hounds has provided some of the best foxhunting in North America. We have wonderful country, talented staff, and Masters, and an enthusiastic and supportive membership. We are in sound financial condition and recently built a state-of-the-art kennel for the 21st century. In 2015 we completed a Long Range Plan that will ensure that the GSVH hounds will be making beautiful music in our countryside for the next ten, twenty-five and even one hundred years.
It is obvious to most members that the future of GSVH is dependent on embracing, supporting and mentoring the next generation. For many, this element of our sport is perhaps the most enjoyable. Foxhunting is one of the few sports that can be enjoyed by several generations of a family, with each generation taking responsibility for different aspects of our sport. GSVH has developed throughout its history many great sportsmen and riders from their earliest days as junior riders/foxhunters and has many programs in existence which are very successful, from pony camp, which is also critical to the club’s financial health, to hunting days dedicated to children. More recently, the club has been a significant beneficiary of the new “Rising Horsemen” program. In many ways, GSVH has been a leader in focusing on the development of juniors. Importantly, our ties to racing are especially helpful in recruiting junior members
